People often used to ask me: “Edward, you have such a clear speaking voice. Can you sing as well?”
If you watch this video of me massacring “Call Your Girlfriend” at karaoke, you will know the answer is “no”. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t love every minute of it.
We went to karaoke tonight! Ed did “Call Your Girlfriend.” We also did “Dancing On My Own” (amazing!) and “With Every Heartbeat.” ALSO, three Taylor Swift songs. MOST JUKEBOX KARAOKE OF ALL TIME?
(I wanted to do SNSD, even though I can’t speak Korean, but I could only find one song, and I didn’t know it.)
Is this a private karaoke room? (Do things like that actually exist outside of movies?) Or just a very empty karaoke place? When we do karaoke it’s usually in a dive bar filled with tons of people and the embarrassment is palpable.
But yeah, this is a v. respectable take on Call Your Girlfriend, Edward. And the dancing is A+.
I’ve always done karaoke in private rooms (with private drinks and private food)! It’s in the range of $30 an hour which isn’t bad split among x number of friends. And the dive bar type don’t tend to have Jpop/Kpop/Cpop (though I can’t sing Korean, so can’t do Kpop anyway). I’m going on Thursday, in fact.
